On January 27, 2006 at the Annual Membership Meeting of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM), in Portland, Oregon, the Dead Theologians Society was approved for Collaborating Membership in the NFCYM.
As a Collaborating Member of the NFCYM, the Dead Theologians Society now “has a seat at the table” and can participate in the important work of the NFCYM whose mission is to serve those who serve the young Catholic Church.
This is an important milestone for the Dead Theologians Society. After meeting a number of requirements and an application process, acceptance is determined by a minimum of 80% majority affirmation by the votes of the existing NFCYM membership, which is largely comprised of diocesan directors representing dioceses throughout the United States. This should open many avenues of important communication between the Dead Theologians Society and the nation’s diocesan leadership which can lead to many new DTS chapters to help our young people grow in holiness in the Catholic Faith. Collaboration with the many dedicated and experienced members of the NFCYM can help the Dead Theologians Society as the apostolate continues its growth in a safe, effective and unified manner.
The National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry is recognized by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as the leader for Catholic Youth Ministry. The Dead Theologians Society is grateful to be accepted into this organization.
